We offer conceptual design, detailed design and design transfer services and will create 2D and 3D CAD drawings as a part of the process. For more details, visit design and development page.

What type of design files does Engineering Dots accept for quoting?

For an accurate and timely quote, we require 3D files, in STL, STEP or IGES format, and 2D drawings with reference dimensions in PDF format. Technical information could be provided through our website Request a Quote page or through email at sales@engineeringdots.com.

Will I gat an instant quote? How long does a quotation take?

For an accurate and optimised pricing, we review your drawings before quotes. However, this review process is quite fast and we get back to you within the same day in most of the cases. If the quote is delayed, we will notify you as soon as possible.

Can I use my own material for production?

Yes, we accept customer-supplied material as long as it fits with our machine capabilities.

How do I know my design will be kept confidential?

We will sign and adhere to any Non-Disclosure or Confidentiality Agreement.

How does Engineering Dots compare to other suppliers on price?

Engineering Dots offers excellent communication and quality with a competitive pricing. We find the right balance between Design and Development Solutions, Cost and Manufacturability within applicable quality framework. In many cases, we saved manufacturing cost by advising our customers for the design changes without impacting the part performance. In any case, our expert design and manufacturing team will be helpful at all stages of your project including DFM and cost optimisation.

Are lead times in working days or calendar days?

Lead times are quoted in calendar days, unless stated otherwise. Lead times commence after design confirmation and design for manufacturing acceptance. For new customers, payment may be required before beginning of actual production. Visit our Terms and Conditions page for more details.

How quickly can I get my parts?

In most of the cases, our production lead time is as little as two weeks once complete 2D and 3D CAD models are provided. Complex parts with special features or parts requiring special materials may take longer and the customers are advised in time for the actual lead time at the start of the project. We use Fedex air freight service which take few days to most of the destinations including North America, Europe, the UK and Australia. Request a Quote with your actual drawings for an accurate estimate.

What tolerances can Engineering Dots achieve?

Engineering Dots uses a number of techniques to manufacture parts. Final tolerances are subject to a number of factors, including but not limited to:

  • Part size
  • Distance between control dimensions
  • Design geometry
  • The number, type and size of features
  • Material
  • Surface finish
  • Manufacturing process

As a part of the order confirmation process, Engineering Dots performs design for manufacturing (DFM) for your part drawings and will advise you for the unachievable dimensions, if any. During this process, we will request you to specify critical dimensions that must be met and allow non-critical dimensions to be generalised. Slightly modifying dimensions may have help to reduce manufacturing time and cost.

It is important that all manufacturing and technical specifications are clearly specified in the 2D drawings in order to be followed.

How does Engineering Dots ensure the quality of my parts?
